The estuary is home to a variety of plant and animal species, many of which are unique to the region.

CHATURMUKHA BASADI

The territory of Gerusoppa was a Jain capital during 1409–1610 CE ruled by the Saluva dynasty of the Vijayanagara Empire.[2][3][1] It is said that 1,084 temples existed in the region, but were destroyed and presently only six remain.[4] In 1865, the veranda roof, the spire and the floor slabs were carted away by tehsildars from Honnavar for construction of another temple.[5][6][7] There is an inscription dated from the 16th century that mentions Rani Chennabhairadevi's (popularly called the "Pepper Queen")[note 1] ascension to power.[2][10] The chaturmukha temple was constructed in 1562 CE during the reign of Chennabhairadevi.

ECO BEACH

Eco Beach is by far the most pristine and virgin beach on the Konkan coast. Originally known as Kasarkod Beach, it is closely guarded by a forest of casuarinas. This white sand beach is the cleanest of them all and slightly deserted as well. This beach stretches up to 5 km and it is a fantastic experience to walk on this sandy turf. Local tour operators on Murudeshwar main temple road can arrange a taxi that can take you to the beach. Access to the beach is not possible via public transport.

KARI KANAMMA

Karikaanamma or Shri Karikaan Parameshwari is a Hindu goddess temple in the Western Ghats in KarnatakaIndia, located near the town of Honnavar, established by Shreedhar Swami. Garbhagudi is carved out of a single rock. In 1970s when Indira Gandhi visited the temple, roads were fully built up to uphill. It is located in the very dense forest, so it is a favorite spot for nature lovers. There are views of the Arabian Sea from the top of the mountain.[1] It is dedicated to the deity Kali (Devanāgarī: काली). [2] Ondadke or Vandadake Shambhulingehwara temple is also nearby to this place.
